Ad-Sponsored Directory Assistance
Apptera's MobileAd Technology enables voice advertisements to be placed within the inbound or outbound calls of:
- Directory Assistance Service Providers
- Telecommunication Service Providers
- Enterprises (Theaters, Supermarkets, ...)
- VoIP Providers
- Wireless Carriers
- Free-411 Providers
Apptera's MobileAd Technology includes:
- MobileAd Manager used by advertisers or their representatives to provision, manage, and record ads
- MobileAd Server used by service providers or enterprises to dynamically select and play the most appropriate ad to a caller based on business rules, profiling, personalization and advanced heuristics
- MobileAd Reporter which generates business intelligence reports for advertisers and DA service providers to quantify the ROI of their campaigns
- MobileAd Xchange which provides a marketplace for advertisers to deploy In-Call ads to multiple service providers through one-time registration. Service providers can leverage the ad "reservoir" to monetize their calls. Learn more about the Xchange.

The patent-pending MobileAd Technology leverages several years of technology investment. It combines web-based paid search with online auctioning over the phone. It is built on Apptera's extensive experience with next-generation speech solutions, campaign management and business analytics which have been successfully deployed in the enterprise world. Service providers can leverage this depth of experience to get speed-to-market and speed-to-revenue.
How It Works
- Using Apptera's MobileAd Manager, an advertiser records the content of an ad, specifi es the type of ad (Sponsor, Switch-Away, Category or "My Listing" Ad), the criteria for playing the ad (time-of-day, day-of-week, locality, throttle, etc.), plus sets the budget and bid parameters.
- When a caller dials for assistance, the service provider initiates a connection with the Apptera software platform.
- The MobileAd Server searches for the category requested by the caller and plays voice ads based on the business rules, knowledge of the caller, and the advanced "quality" heuristics of the ad (i.e. play the ads most likely to generate the greatest amount of revenue for the service provider).
- The caller can continue with their original listing or switch to call the advertiser instead.
- The MobileAd Reporter module will generate reports for the advertiser and service provider to measure the effectiveness of the ad.
An Example of an Effective MobileAd Powered by Apptera
A woman just getting out of a business meeting realizes she needs a cab back to the office. She calls an ad-sponsored DA service and asks for the first company that enters her mind:
411 Provider: What city?
Diane: Springfield
411 Provider: What listing?
Diane: Yellow Cab
411 Provider: OK, please listen to our sponsor's ad while I look up your number.
Targeted MobileAd: "Checkered Cab has the cleanest taxis in town and all our drivers speak English. We can usually have a cab to you in less than three minutes!"
411 Provider: To be connected to our sponsor, say "Sponsor."
Diane: Sponsor, Checkered Cab please.
